Enrichment Program

MISSION

To create a structured program that is dedicated to the care, education and development of St. Brigid School students during their out-of-school-time hours.  Emphasis will be placed on providing an atmosphere where children can work on academics, socialization and life skills.  We will work to provide our families with a positive, safe, and nurturing environment that will include a nutritional snack, work on homework, option to learn new skills, opportunities to make new friends, and have fun.

UTILIZATION/SCHEDULE
Before and Aftercare will be provided to St. Brigid students daily, throughout the school year.  The only exceptions are when school is not in session and on those Fridays that are half days that fall before a school vacation week.  You do not have to notify us in advance in order to use this service.  If you know that your child will be utilizing the service on a particular day (especially the younger students), please notify your child's teacher of this at drop-off or send your child with a note.  Remember any student not picked up by 3:00 PM promptly will be taken to the aftercare room and a fee will be assessed.  If you need to reach the Before or Aftercare program please contact their dedicated line at 797-7184.

HOURS FOR BEFORE AND AFTERCARE

•  Before Care Hours are:    7:00 AM to 7:40 AM*

• After Care Hours are:        2:45 PM to 5:30 PM

*For grades Pre-K through 6th grade, homeroom teachers will pick up their students in the Before Care Room at 7:40 AM.  If a student is dropped off between 7:30 AM and 7:40 AM, there will NOT be a charge for Before Care.  If you are a 7th or 8th grade student that arrives at school between 7:30 AM and 7:40 AM, you may report directly to your homeroom.

LOCATIONS

• BEFORE CARE will be held in Mrs. Garrett's 6th grade classroom in the lower level of the Father Hayes Center.  This room is the first classroom on the left when entering from the back of the building.

• AFTERCARE GRADES PRE-K THROUGH 3 will be held in the newly renovated Pre-K rooms.  This will allow a location for any young student that may be tired after a long day to have quiet time in one of the Pre-K rooms.

• AFTERCARE GRADES 4 THROUGH 8 will report to Mrs. Garrett's 6th grade classroom on the lower level of the Father Hayes Center.  After check-in, these students will be divided into three groups.  These groups will be initially located in Mrs. Garrett's 6th grade classroom, Mrs. Hanson's 5th grade classroom, or Mrs. Found's 4th grade classroom.  All of these rooms are located on the ground floor of the Father Hayes Center.

STAFFING

We are pleased to announce the following changes in staffing for the Before and Aftercare Program:

PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 3

• Michelle Wescott - Before and Aftercare Coordinator for Pre-K through Grade 3

• Peggy Koukos - Aftercare Teacher

GRADES 4 THROUGH 8

• Sue Winchester - Before and Aftercare Coordinator for Grades 4 through 8

• Sheila Hanson - Before and Aftercare Teacher

• Emily Garrett - Before and Aftercare Teacher

The strength of our program is in the dedication of our teaching staff.  These staff members are existing teachers at St. Brigid School, have rior experience in Before and Aftercare Programs and have attended Protecting God's Children.

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES

We will be adding enrichment activities for all children attending our aftercare program.  The enrichment activities will include arts & crafts, group games, homework room, technology, indoor and outdoor games, etc. 
The Monday through Friday schedules for each of these groups will be as follows:

PRE-K THROUGH GRADE 3

• 2:45 - 3:30 PM - Quiet Time, Homework, Puzzles, Games, Snack

• 3:30 - 4:15 PM - Outside Play Time (weather permitting)

• 4:15 - 5:00 PM - Arts & Crafts, Computers, Gym Activity, etc.  These activities will vary daily.

• 5:00 - 5:30 PM - Free Choice/Clean-Up*

GRADES 4 THROUGH 8

• 2:45 - 3:30 PM - Quiet Time, Homework, Snack

• 3:30 - 4:15 PM - Arts, Games, Movies, Gym Time, Technology, etc.  These activities will vary daily.

• 4:15 - 5:00 PM - Outside Play Time (weather permitting)

• 5:00 - 5:30 PM - Free Choice/Clean-Up*

*All students remaining at 5:00 PM will return to the Pre-K Room for Free Choice and Clean-Up.

FEES FOR EACH CHILD

Before Care Fee -     $2.25 for students dropped off between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM
After Care Fee -        $4.50 Per Hour             

BILLING

All students will be checked in upon arrival to the Before or Aftercare Rooms.  Parents need to sign their child or children out when picking up, indicating their departure.  If a child or children are not picked up by 5:30 PM, a $1.00 per minute fee will be charged for each minute after this time.  All aftercare billing will be calculated by the half-hour.  If a student is not signed out, the family will be charged for the full day.  Billing for this program is sent home bi-weekly in the Friday Envelopes.  Any questions should be directed to Sharon Dadiego, Bookkeeper, at 797-7026, Ext. 201.
