September 1, 2010

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

In your Friday Envelopes, please find a packet with all of the items that we gave your son/daughter for the beginning of the school year.  It is my policy to keep you abreast of what is going on in the classroom by sending home communications periodically.  These first of the year communications are vitally important and should be kept handy to refer to in the future.  The behavior code will be enforced.  We are determined to have a safe school environment.  The behavior contracts need to be signed and returned for record keeping.  Please keep the uniform policy close at hand to remind the students that we will be vigilant.

There are monthly projects that require some time management.  Expect around the first of the month syllabi for some subjects.  They will outline what is going on in the class and what will be expected of the student.  In some cases, like Geography, the actual assignments will be listed.  In some cases, the syllabus will be more general, just outlining the skills which will be taught during the month.  In all cases, they will serve as a guideline for your child and for you as to what should be accomplished throughout the month.  Sometimes we do not meet each goal due to circumstances beyond our control.  Items then will  be carried over to another month.

Items that need to be signed should be returned at the earliest convenience.  Most of these will go home in the Friday Envelope.  Please watch for the Friday Envelope and return it with all signed notices and lunch slips/money on Monday or the next day school is in session.  If an envelope is not returned, there is not one sent home on Friday.  Occasionally, we must send notices home on other days.  These are usually special items that the students will give to you.

School attendance and punctuality is important.  Parents should call the school if your child is absent.  Students need to bring in notes concerning absences the next day they are in school.  Notes concerning tardiness should come in when the student enters school.    Early dismissals should also have notes.

This will be a great year, with teachers, parents, and your children making a partnership for success.

Sincerely,
Mrs. McCuller and Mr. Ouellet
