In conjunction with the mission statement of St. Brigid School, the religion program integrates the truths and traditions of the Catholic Church through the teachings of Jesus. The program supports students as they grow as people of faith. Students are invited to be lectors and gift bearers and to participate in the weekly liturgy. Parents and families are encouraged to participate in mass and model faith during weekday and weekend masses. Service is a component of our program; each year, children have many opportunities to put the school’s mission into action through service to others in our greater community.
Students engage most with their faith when the faith experiences within the classroom touch the hands, head, and hearts. From morning meetings to prayer dismissal, we integrate the life of the Catholic Church in our daily schedules. The program utilizes the Sadlier text as well as supplemental teaching materials to accomplish this learning goal through a variety of activities, including writing, reading, liturgical music, masses, service work, classroom discussion, and emphasis on saints and holidays.
Students receive religious instruction at least three times per week, through morning prayer, attending mass once a week as a school, and participating in community service. Students have the opportunity to participate in liturgical music throughout their time at St. Brigid School. The sacraments, the Ten Commandments, and prayer are revisited throughout a student’s journey through the grades, leaving a strong foundation for the middle school student to graduate.
